It's What for Dinner (and lunch)

Let 's try this blog thing again!  I don't know if I'm lazy or if I'm efficient, but I like to cook on Sunday and take lunch to work.  I try to make enough for dinner, but that doesn't always work out.  This week I made what I'm calling Thai Vegetable Soup.  No recipe as usual.  I've listed the ingredients below.

Thai Vegetable Soup
Mellow White Miso
Better Than Bouillon Vegetable Base
Water
Garlic
Red Potato
Carrot
Fennel Bulb
Zucchini
Celery
Spinach
Mushrooms
Frozen Peas
1 can Lite Coconut Milk
Red Curry Paste
Brown Sugar
I mixed about a teaspoon of miso and bouillon base with warm water to dissolve the pastes.  I used maybe 4 cups of water total.  Dice potatoes and carrots and throw into the pot with the water and some garlic.  Cook 10 minutes.  Add the remaining vegetables.  Mix 1-3 tablespoons of red curry paste and a tiny bit of brown sugar to the coconut milk to dissolve paste.  Add coconut milk to soup.  It turned out delicious!

Lunar New Year

Happy new year!  The actually day was January 23.  It's the year of the dragon.  A few friends and I hit the smallest parade I've ever seen.  I think there were three floats and a marching band.  The Chinese dragons were pretty cool.

Part of the tradition is to light fireworks to drive away the evil spirits.  Please excuse the head in the video!

Back In the Saddle

Let's see if I can get this blog rolling again.   Like my crafting, my blog has fallen by the way side.  I started a crochet project.  Ruby likes using the arms of my sofa as scratching post and I am sick of having to step over blankets draped over the arms.  I saw this image and thought it was a great idea.

So, instead of doilies I'm going with crochet.  Here's to hoping I finish this project and continue to blog in 2012.  Happy new year!

Ravenswood Artwalk 2011

Chicago Botanical Gardens October 2011

My sister and parents came in to town the first weekend in October for the Ravenswood Artwalk,  I have a great time every year and I thought they would enjoy it.  The weather was good for October in Chicago.  It could have been a little warmer but the sun was shining so it's hard to complain.  Saturday morning we headed out to the Chicago Botanic Gardens at the request of my sister.

Denver 2011

The entire family flew to Denver to visit the rug rats.  We stayed at my brother's house for the first.  I think it went well.

She just posed like this on her own, what a ham!

Achoooo

Head lamp on a kid, brilliant idea.

Busy Summer

I've been away for so long for this blog.  I guess that's what happens when you're enjoying the summer.  Here's what I was doing with little detail.

Hippy Basket

I had a coupon, so I tried it out.  You get a lot of food for one person.

I went to a street festival and saw this random sculpture.  I think it is packing tape or clear wrap but I'm not sure.

I was in line for Hot Doug's when a Good humor truck pulled up.  So this is a picture of people waiting in line, waiting in a second line.

I have bangs!

Cousin comes to visit.  The only places we HAD to go to was Golden Nugget and Sprinkles.

Mom & Dad came in for my birthday.  We went to Summer Dance downtown.

A crowd of us went to an all-you-can eat Indian restaurant for my birthday, yummy.

So, as you can see I was busy in August.  Didn't get to workout much at all, I need to get back on the treadmill ASAP.
